I thought it was time for an update on the Jackal Rugby Academy!
February saw our Beach rugby comp in Wollongong where we were blessed with another great day of weather and some fantastic rugby.
It’s been a really big year on the coaching front for me. Taking over the Southern Districts Colts program has seen us commence pre season training in Nov 18, then after the Xmas break, we have been training three days a week since Jan. We have some real talented squad members with our half back being pulled up from Colts 1’s to make his Shute shield debut recently. We have fallen outside the top six finals spots, but giving the top end a scare over the past few weeks.
I have been recruiting for 2020 at the Schools carnivals and other rep carnivals recently. On that note, if any players feel they have the drive to play high level rugby in colts, grade or women’s 7’s, I would love to have a chat to you. Don’t be surprised if you get a tap on the shoulder either!!!
I went to Canberra to coach the Australian police rugby team against the RAAF and ADFA where we come away with two fantastic wins.
So it has been a bit quiet on the Jackal Rugby front with no school holiday programs, but adding my day job to the coaching, something had to give.
I am still available a few days a week for anyone wishing to have some one on one, small group or even team training. Email or call me.
Now I am set with Colts programming, 2020 should be a bigger and better year with Beach rugby to start us off in Feb and clinics and small group training throughout the year.
All the best with your rugby. Jay
