Jayson Joerdens, founder of the Jackal Rugby Academy has been appointed coach of the Aust Police Rugby Union squad. A former player for the APRU between 1999 to 2008, Jayson now takes the reigns of the squad with legend, Shannon Fraser (Randwick) and Souths Brisbane and APRU veteran, Paul Keene.
When asked what he thought of the appointment, Jayson said
"It was a great privilege to represent my country at the APRU level as a player, it is a greater privilege to be entrusted to lead the team as a coach. It also comes with high expectations and challenges. Challenges I am looking forward to undertake. I was fortunate to be involved with the APRU and play along side Paul, now it will be a great to work with Paul in a coaching capacity. I had the pleasure of working with Shannon and the APRU earlier this year. Shannon is extremely knowledgable and has coached at a high level. He has many commitments and agreed to work with us when available to improve the APRU. We will work closely together over the next few weeks to get our program right for the New Zealand tour in April 2017 and the Defence force game later that year."
